Star-studded and out of this world
The minute I saw Eva Longoria’s rap in the advert for the European Music Awards 2010, I could not wait, because she’s the host…French toast.
The show this year was held at La Caja Magica in Madrid, Spain. As previously mentioned, the gorgeous Eva Longoria took over from last year’s host Katy Perry for a star-studded night of top celebrities and dazzling performances. As in typical EMA style, Longoria managed a total of 13 different outfits. The 17th annual MTV EMAs went all carnival on us, as Shakira kick started the night with Loca and the offical FIFA world cup song, Waka Waka, featuring the Bonkers rapper Dizzee Rascal, a host of flags and tones of confetti.
Katy Perry and Linkin Park were featured live from the show’s outdoor stage at Madrid’s Puerta de Alcalá. Perry wowed 100,000 fans with an explosive performance of her new single Firework. After her performance, the Hot N’ Cold singer appeared on stage with Eva, saying she “wanted to check and see how you were doing”, reminding the audience that she hosted the awards last year. One sure fire highlight of the night was when Eva asked for tips and Katy replied saying she changed her outfit 12 times, so she thought another costume change was in order. She then proceeded to rip of Longoria’s sparkly strappy bustier, strap by strap, and then tore her skirt off leaving the Desperate Housewife in little more than a skimpy body suit. “Oh that ass, hangin’ out” joked Perry as she gave the sexy star’s bottom a slap and they burst into giggles.
Other live performances included as stunning surprise set from Kanye West, who amazed fans by showing up at the Puerta Alcalá, 30 Seconds to Mars, Rihanna, Bon Jovi, Ke$ha and Kings of Leon.
Best Female nominee Rihanna, gave an incredible, (if not surreal) performance ofOnly Girl (In The World) and Kings of Leon stunned the audience with an absolutely incredible performance of Radioactive. I just love that song and their new album is a thing of beauty.
The big winner of the night was Lady Gaga, who won three awards- Best Female, Best Pop and Best Song. She was unable to attend the show in Madrid but she thanked her little monsters by satellite from Budapest where she was performing the latest date on her Monster Ball Tour.
Rock legend’s Bon Jovi received the Global Icon Awards and closed the show with an epic medley You Give Love A Bad Name, It’s My Life and What Do You Got? I don’t care how old he is, Jon Bon Jovi is a stud.
